What is Litho Printing?

Litho printing, also known as lithographic and offset printing, involves a process where the template of the print is placed onto a metal plate. The plate then passes through a set of rollers which collects the ink in layers, this then combines to the create the final colour image.

Our Print Management Service

Our litho printing machinery ranges from single colour GTO’s, to 5 colour B2 Komori presses. This equipment offers a superior finish to get your product noticed – including business stationery, envelopes, pads, promotional and marketing content.

As a professional litho printing company we can print high volumes with the capacity to hold stock for call-off, offering a complete print management solution.

Advantages of Litho Printing

  • Litho printing can effectively handle longer print runs for large-scale production.
  • Durable prints that support a wide range of paper types and substrates, coatings and special finishes.
  • Excellent print quality with precise colour control and consistency.

Environmental Impact

  • Litho printing is a more environmentally friendly option when used for large-scale printing. Whilst the set up takes longer than digital, the cost per unit decreases when printing larger batches.
  • We use chemistry free plates, recycled & FSC materials, and print using vegetable inks. This is linked into our Carbon Capture scheme as part of our Net Zero plan.

Comparisons with Digital Printing

  • Digital printing is great for short to medium print runs, but litho is faster and more cost effective when printing larger quantities with consistent quality.
  • Digital can be limited on some paper types and weights, whereas litho is compatible with a range of substrates, papers and thicknesses.
  • Litho ink is layered, whereas digital ink is mixed to create the desired colour.
